At present we are recruiting for a number of positions within our textile business.

All roles are permanent and full time, we also have part time positions available for seamstresses. They are all based at our office and production centre at Broughton Park, Newhailes Industrial Estate in Musselburgh just to the east of Edinburgh. This is easily reached by car (free parking is available immediately outside, by bus (Lothian service numbers 26, 30, 44 and 45; East Coast services numbers 124 and X24) or train (Musselburgh and Newcraighall railway stations are nearby). For cyclists we are also near or on National Cycle Network routes 1 and 76.

Scottish Mountain Gear

Outdoor Equipment Repairs Assessor

This full time, permanent, role is ideally suited to a candidate with an interest in the outdoors and outdoor equipment. Scottish Mountain Gear is the main repairer of outdoor clothing, rucksacks, tents and sleeping bags in the country. We work with a large number of leading outdoor brands, with specialist retailers and directly with members of the public. The successful candidate will join our current team of incoming goods assessors.

The role will involve a variety of administration duties including product assessment, telephone handling, sales order entry and working closely with our Operations Manager and Directors. The successful applicant should be capable of operating a PC, be comfortable working within a team or on their own and have excellent organisational skills. Key aspects of the role also include:

  • Receiving and processing incoming goods in an organised fashion.
  • Examining clothing items, rucksacks and tents to assess for repair.
  • Working with our experienced team of seamstresses to discuss the approach to difficult repairs.
  • Handling customer queries.
  • Liaising with retailers and outdoor brands regarding warranty repairs, fabrics and parts.
  • May also involve fabric testing, including waterproof tests.

Sales Executive

We are expanding and looking to recruit an enthusiastic and outgoing individual to work as a Sales Executive within our personalised clothing business.

The role will principally be office based working alongside our existing sales team. There will be opportunities to travel to see clients at different times in a year.

The position involves a variety of duties including working with an existing portfolio of client accounts and developing business with new customers. The successful applicant should have a sales background with a proven track record, be capable of operating a PC, be comfortable working within a team or on their own and have excellent organisational skills.
